Conflict Resolution Day
The MCWP Conflict Resolution Day Award is presented annually in October to recognize a member of the Western Pennsylvania community for their outstanding contributions to the field of mediation.
The 2020 Conflict Resolution Day Award recipient was Karen Engro. Ms. Engro is a highly-regarded Pittsburgh conflict resolution professional who has mediated and arbitrated cases for over 25 years. She provides mediation training for judges, attorneys, and health care professionals locally, nationally, and internationally, and designs and consults on institutional mediation programs. Several esteemed judges of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, including the Hon. Donetta W. Ambrose, the Hon. Arthur J. Schwab, the Hon. Nora Barry Fischer, and the Hon. Lisa P. Lenihan, honored Ms. Engro with personal anecdotes about her dedicated assistance and outstanding service to the Court’s ADR Program. Chaton Turner, Senior Associate Counsel and Senior Director Disabilities Services at UPMC, praised Ms. Engro for her many contributions to the functioning and success of the UPMC Intermediation Program.
